TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- As another child care centre in Toronto stands on the verge of a strike, CUPE Ontario will call on the provincial government to take responsibility for a child care system that relies on public funding but leaves workers fighting workplace by workplace for fair wages, benefits and pensions.

CUPE Ontario President Yolanda McClean will be joined by CUPE Local 2484 members at Ideal Child Services, who have been locked out by their employer since October 5, and from Start Right Child Care Centre, who could be on strike as early as next week. Together, they will call on the Ford government to enact fair standards for child care workers, including a proper wage floor, meaningful benefits and pension standards, and a bilateral agreement that holds the government accountable for delivering real improvements.
